When I was creating this image, I simply asked the bride to stand in the library of The River House. The doors and windows in the library bring in a lot of natural light. I closed the curtains over the windows to limit the light and the where it was going. Highlighting only the bride and capturing a few portraits before the ceremony were my goals setting this up. Because the window light did this beautifully, I only needed to utilize my Nikon D4 and 85mm lens to capture this moment.
While getting situated in the light, with the help of her bridesmaids fluffing her veil and train, she was overcome with emotion. As to be expected on a wedding day, emotions and nerves are high. Marriage is a big decision and a huge step in life. Compounding that with the build up to the day with the planning, time that has passed, people who may not be at the wedding; it is a very emotional, beautiful day!
I love that we captured this moment because it is truly a candid, spontaneous moment that just preserves how she was feeling at that moment. These images often become my favorite of the day.
